Riot police in Rio de Janeiro receive training from their French counterparts ahead of the 2014 World Cup finals. Police use rubber bullets, tear gas and tennis balls to simulate a riot. French police captain Jean-Louis Sanche says Brazilian police are used to skirmishes in the favelas but not large-scale riots. ‘The way you work in the favelas is different to the way you work in large events, there’s a difference in the way you use your resources. We are here to pass on this knowledge,’ he says
